Programmering (week 2)

Image
We have finally completed the frame of the robot and have programmed it to drive forward and backward. We were able to build the frame with no problems, however programming the robot was where we encountered some problems. We couldn't figure out how to program the robot so we asked some experienced students to help us and they did. After the help of a few experienced students we were able to program the robot to move.

IT'S BUILT (week 2)

Image
Our frames our complete including wheels, gear, and motors. Our next challenge will be driving them and getting them to do a figure 8. Our strategy is to take it step by step and take our time in order to make sure we don't mess up. By this I mean, when programming we will test our code every 3 to 4 lines to test for any errors.

WE HAVE NO CLUE WHAT WE ARE DOING (week 1)

As this is our first time ever building or should i say "attempting" to build a robot, we're running into struggles left and right. Whether it be not being able to find the right parts or not being able to understand the instructions, we are running into lots of complications. However I think we're getting the hang of it. Our goal by the end of this week is to be fished with the frame of our clawbot so we can start preparing the gears.

GEARed For Success (week 1)

Since our last post we haven't done much. We have however talked to some more experienced students and got some tips and tricks. Tip 1: You're first robot should be a clawbot. Squarebots, once you add a claw they become unbalanced. Tip 2: Follow the instructions. This one is pretty straight forward but they basically told us, "don't think you know what you're doing and try it by yourself". Tip 3: Don't be afraid to ask for help. Other students may come off as intimidating, especially if they're older than you, but they are willing to help you if you need and are super kind. Hopefully we can follow these tips and reach our goal of being able to add gears to our robot next week.

Thomas's Bio

My name is Thomas I am a sophomore this year and this is my second year in engineering. I like long walks on the beach and pina coladas, but on a more serious note, I have a large passion for engineering and plan to stay in the program for the remainder of my high school career. Hopefully I get to pursue engineering after high school but until then, this is the New Guy's blog.
